In Your Feelings?

Are you in the midst of a stressful situation?  Last Friday I found myself sitting on the guardrail of the PA turnpike because the bus we were riding on had a flat tire. Of course my immediate response was irritation and inconvenience. But instead of dwelling on my circumstance or my feelings I started to look around for the beauty of creation so could experience the peace and presence of God. I looked behind me and I saw this butterfly.

I grabbed my camera. As the butterfly landed on the flower, its presence reminded me : God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in the time of trouble - Ps 46:1.  It stilled itself on the flower as if to say: Be still and know that I am God - Ps 46:10. Then it spread its wings, and I remembered: He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty - Ps 91:1.

Got a situation? Exhale your stress and inhale becoming aware of the Lord's presence allowing Him to become your refuge and your strength. Still yourself and experience His peace as you know your God is with you and in control. Finally,  keep your mind on Him staying in His presence, knowing He has you covered. I don't know about you, but I would rather be in His presence than in my feelings!
